About Cambridge, Ontario
Cambridge (2016 population 129,920) is a city located in Southern Ontario at the confluence of the Grand and Speed rivers in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. It was formed in 1973 by the amalgamation of the Galt, Preston, Hespeler, the settlement of Blair and a small portion of surrounding townships. The first mayor of Cambridge was Claudette Millar. Cambridge is home to many cultural events and activities, including the Mill Race Festival and the Rock the Mill music festivals in downtown Galt. Cambridge also has the Cambridge Highland Games in Churchill Park in July. There's also Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory the annual dragon boat festival, the Cambridge fall fair which has been entertaining locals and visitors alike for over 100 years. The Cambridge Santa Claus Parade was one of the first city parades in Ontario to go to the night-time format.
Cambridge has an abundance of attractions to excite the whole family. Take a tour of the awe-inspiring Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant or a slow drive through the game reserve of the African Lion Safari where wild animals come to take a look at you. If you’re hoping for something a little more mellow, relax amongst thousands of free-flying butterflies in the tropical paradise of the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory.
